A Special Announcement from Capital Repertory Theatre!

ALBANY – Capital Repertory Theatre is excited to announce Miriam Weisfeld as our new Producing Artistic Director! Miriam will succeed Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill who has served in the role since 1995. Weisfeld will also continue as Producing Artistic Director of the Adirondack Theatre Festival in Glens Falls, a position she’s held since 2021.
“When Maggie told me her plan to step down from her role at theREP, I knew the task of finding her successor would need a great deal of thought, patience, discussion, and collaboration,” said Philip Morris, CEO of Proctors Collaborative. “The leadership team at the Collaborative, the Board of Directors for theREP, and Maggie herself spent a great deal of time ensuring the future of our fabulous theatre would be in good hands. We all agree those hands belong to Miriam, and with them she will continue to grow the legacy and artistry of Capital Repertory Theatre.”
Weisfeld is already familiar with theREP, as she has been serving as Consulting Artistic Producer for the last several months. She’s been instrumental in helping our theatre plan its 2025-26 season, which will be announced 7 p.m., March 10 on the MainStage at Proctors.
“It’s an honor to build upon the extraordinary work of Maggie and her stellar team at theREP. It’s also a genuine thrill to engage with our thought partners at Proctors Collaborative and Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate NY. At this moment in American theatre, collaboration is paramount, and this team is lighting the way,” said Weisfeld.
Before coming to the Capital Region, Weisfeld served as Director of Artistic Development for the Tony-winning Children’s Theatre Company in Minneapolis, where she was the dramaturg of the world premiere of “An American Tail” and helped to develop Generation Now, a national partnership to commission new multigenerational plays by artists of color. Prior to that she was Senior Vice President at Broadway’s Araca Group, she was the original dramaturg to launch the development of “The Outsiders” (2024 Tony Award for Best Musical) and the national tour of “Clue.”
The staff at theREP and across Proctors Collaborative are so excited to welcome Weisfeld to the Collaborative family. She starts her new role on Sept. 1, 2025, as she and Mancinelli-Cahill work to ensure a smooth transition of operations at theREP through the end of the year.
Welcome, Miriam! We can’t wait to see what you bring to the stage!
